The Story So Far...

Risa and Ōtani are their class's lopsided comedy duo, except that Risa's fallen in love with Ōtani! She finally works up the courage to tell him how she feels only to be totally rejected. Even so, she keeps trying to change his mind, and it looks like her effort's have paid off, he kisses her!! Or did he? Because the next day, he doesn't remember a thing about it. This is too much for Risa, and she decides she's through with him. She starts a fan club for dreamy new teacher Mr. Maitake (aka Mighty) and throws herself into some serious fandom, and Ōtani gets awfully grumpy. And when Risa reminds him that she's decided to quit being in love with him, he tells her not to! And then, on her birthday, he gets her a present and kisses her for real. So it looks like things're finally working out for Risa, except...
